A love story
Because of my experience with catholic religion, now in the present time, like a former catholic I’m able to inquire into the problematic that power systems represent in our society. But I’m not only focused on this thematic as a concept, I also want to explore the technique of painting and compare it with the power systems, that is: I’d like to investigate if and how painting affects the viewer.
Art and religion show intriguing similarities. For example, in Catholic religion wine and bread become the blood and the flesh of Jesus, giving a completely different meaning to blood and human flesh. Well, I think that is what artists do when picking up images from different sources like internet, news, movies, etc. We transform them into a body of work, becoming a transcendent reality.
