Laterica

The goal of my project was to design a typeface for books, for continuous reading, based on broad nib calligraphy.

I wanted to achieve the same kind of even, silvery texture on the page that can be seen in Renaissance books. My project is also about gently matching Cyrillic and Latin script. Cyrillic script is strongly related to Latin, some letters actually are identical for both scripts. But in several other aspects it is very different, for instance, it is more static. So I searched for solutions that would work for both scripts, to make Cyrillic more dynamic, to bring more asymmetry into it, and to find characteristics to differentiate upper and lower case.
