Joris Strijbos is a Rotterdam-based artist, working in the fields of expanded (live) cinema and audio performances.
Since 1999 he’s been running his own record label called “Obnoxious Records” on which he releases all kinds of electronic music. In addition to this he has also released work on different international record labels and performed in many countries throughout Europe.
While deconstructing and reconstructing audio equipment for his music performances, he expanded his live-set with obsolete and analogue video equipment. By using circuit-bending methods and signal distortion he experimented a lot with creating abstract visuals and image-sound relationships in a live setting. Having a special interest in organic organisations and structures he nowadays creates computer software to generate visual complexity. These techniques re-appear in his
installations, in which he focuses on new ways of projecting and creating abstract images.
