STEREOPIET

A visual commentary on the ancient roots and the contemporary form of the “Sinterklaas” tradition as well as the role/image of the “Zwarte Piet(en)” leading to reflections on stereotypical representations of “black” people in western popular culture and western ideals of beauty and power/dominance.

The poster series in conjunction with the video is supposed to direct public interest towards the online platform www.stereopiet.nl where the research as well as a forum for commentary and artworks from other artists are presented.
